Violence broke out in the country’s North Western Province on Monday (13 May), whereby local authorities imposed an island-wide night-time curfew.
The FCO, though, has stated Britons in Sri Lanka will be able to access the country’s main airport.
“The Sri Lankan authorities have confirmed that passengers with a passport and a valid flight ticket (including electronic ticket) can travel to the airport during curfew periods,” read updated advice from the FCO issued on Monday.
The country was rocked last month by a string of deadly terror attacks on Easter Sunday, targeting churches and hotels and killing more than 250 people.
The FCO updated its travel advice several days later warning against all but essential travel to the country. This advice remains in place, essentially blocking leisure travel to Sri Lanka.
Although the national curfew has since been lifted, authorities in North Western Province are expected to continue to enforce restrictions until further notice.
The curfews come amid an increase in anti-Muslim violence, the BBC reports, following the Easter Sunday attacks, understood to have been carried out by Islamist militants.
